Following the following protocols will help everyone remain healthy and safe, thus minimizing the risk of exposure or transmission of COVID-19 and flu.
Whether you return to in-person lessons/classes or continue to attend from home, you are an important part of our studio! Please choose the option that you are most comfortable with and maintain contact with your teacher.
Our target re-opening date is Monday, July 6th, 2020. This will of course depend upon the situation in Maine, local/state ordinances, and other factors.
There will be no toys, books, or entertaining items in the waiting room, only table and seating for the summer semester. No microphones will be used, and no items will be shared. Common surfaces (doorknobs, handles, and other common items will be disinfected prior to classes starting each day, in between classes, and at the end of the teaching day.
The bathroom will be disinfected at the beginning and end of the day. If you need to use the bathroom, please wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with very warm water (hum “Happy Birthday” twice through), and use the easily located disinfectant wipes to wipe down the toilet handle, sink handles, sides of the sink/counter, and doorknob upon leaving.
Anyone who has traveled at all needs to remain at home for at least 14 days after returning home, as outlined by the state of Maine. If you have or have had a cough, fever, sniffle, change in smell or taste, or knowingly come into contact with someone who has these symptoms, remain at home for at least 14 days after exposure or after symptoms subside.
Please wait in the car upon arrival until you receive notification that the teacher is ready for your lesson. Only one student/family will be permitted in the studio at a time.
If you or someone you live with is at higher risk (COPD, asthma, etc), please use good judgment. Remote lessons continue to be an option.
Please only bring in your music bag, a wallet, cell phone, and water, leaving everything else in the car.
If you have a lesson for an instrument that you bring with you, please only bring in the instrument and items needed for your lesson; leave any cases & additional items in the car.
Everyone must use hand sanitizer that is outside prior to touching doorknobs, hand sanitizer just inside the waiting room upon entry, and again upon leaving at each door. Everyone must use sanitation wipes to disinfect anything touched while present before leaving. Please only have people attend with you who are absolutely necessary.
We will need to ensure that there is a small break between each lesson to allow for sanitation and changing families without contact. If you have not yet selected a summer lesson time, please talk with your teacher right away to ensure you’re able to get a time that works well for you.
Until the state of Maine states that masks are no longer necessary, everyone in the studio will need to wear a facial covering. There will be some here in case you forget one; however, they are limited, so please bring your own if at all possible.
Unfortunately, singing is one of the things that is being severely discouraged at this time because of deep breathing and expelling more respiration than typical. Therefore, vocal lessons will resume at a later date. Please continue to attend via Zoom until notified. Thank you for your understanding. (Please see Malena if you have additional questions about this.)
Group classes will resume in the fall, as there are no clear guidelines yet coming from the state, and we do not want to be the cause of anyone getting ill. Our space is small, and there is too much risk for having multiple students in the same location together.
