Music Lessons & Homeschool Studio Information
In 1989 Malena started teaching piano and tutoring in French and other subjects, and Malena's Music Lessons was born!
She continued to teach music as a hobby until 2018, when she realized that there are few teachers in the area who can effectively work with people who have disabilities, and this could be something to really bless the community!
In January, 2019 Malena and Malena's Music Lessons moved to Limerick, Maine, establishing a music studio & functional waiting room and truly becoming part of the local community. Early 2020 saw the transformation to Malena's Music Lessons & More, offering more homeschool & life enrichment classes!
We are a small in-home studio. 2 attached side rooms in the apartment are the studio and waiting room. If you're not comfortable with an in-home studio, please request online lessons. :)
Who's the cat? Baby Girl is our studio mascot! If you're allergic to cats, we 'd be happy to provide online lessons for you. :)
We believe strongly that everyone should be able to learn and grow, regardless of ability or disability. We have extensive experience working with children and adults with learning disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities (including Autism), anxiety, trauma, and physical deformities.
We now offer music lessons, homeschooling, & life enrichment classes! Whether you're a just a beginner or an advanced student needing guidance in a particular area, let's explore learning opportunities together! :)
IMPORTANT: Students must download the Tonara app on a smartphone or tablet. Only teachers (at this time) can use a desktop version. They are working on a desktop version for students.
We all know that the more students’ practice, the better they play and the longer they stick with it to feel that incredible joy of creating music. Tonara has worked hard to create features and benefits for students that makes practicing more engaging, interactive and fun! Students earn points every time you practice, and with each assignment completion you get XP, stickers in chat, and could level up! :)
Teachers upload recordings and/or videos for students to be able to listen to or watch before playing each assignment, giving them a better idea of how it should sound when it is correct, thus aiding in learning and challenging the student with each practice.
As students continue to practice with Tonara, they are able to see their own growth and progression with statistics and all the fun rewards that they receive as they practice more and complete more assignments.
At Malena's Music Lessons & More we have leaderboards not only for the studio, but also for adults, teens, children, & classes! We also have buddy chats set up for practice challenges & interaction, building & continuing relationships with other students!
